Stone(s): Jura limestone - beige

Born in the prehistoric sea, elegant Jura limestone is a monument to our evolutionary history.

Jura limestone formed when the primeval sea receded in the Bavarian Altmühl Valley around 180 million years ago and the animals and plants of the marine world slowly sank to the bottom. It enclosed the prehistoric creatures of the past as fossils, remaining a unique witness to our history to this day. The elegant effect of Jura limestone is particularly well showcased in the Urn Headstone Model San José. Upright, noble, and gently curved, the contrasting forms unite into a harmonious whole, radiating both strength and vibrant warmth.

Due to its refined appearance, Jura limestone was popular as a building material as early as Roman times and can also be found in numerous medieval structures. Jura limestone has a high density, yet as a soft sedimentary rock, it is excellently suited for surface detailing. Elements such as angels or wings are particularly effective, while the warm base tone gives the stone an elegant and calm appearance.

Care instructions: Jura limestone is low-maintenance as it weathers or develops greenery very slowly. To further delay this process, we additionally seal our stones. Thanks to our proven sealing system, this Urn Headstone Model San José is even less susceptible to the elements and is also water and dirt repellent.
