Stone(s): Diorite and sandstone

In loving contact, robust diorite and playful sandstone grow together.

Seemingly contradictory, the dark diorite and the light sandstone complement each other to form a harmonious unit. Hard and unshakeable, the diorite is gently received by the sandstone. Quietly embracing, strength combines with delicacy, power with warmth, and grief with confidence. Only in the interplay of opposites does the pair reach perfection, providing each other with security and support. Thus, the urn headstone Model Rome stands as a symbol of eternal love and connection.

Diorite is one of the hardest and most durable types of rock. It was formed millions of years ago from liquid magma in the deep layers of the earth. In the process, a fine- to medium-grained structure emerged, which gives the diorite a harmonious effect. Its black to dark gray coloring provides a calm and powerful radiance.
Opposite it is the light-colored sandstone, which was formed over 150 million years ago from the deposits of weathered stones and grains of sand. Over time, it hardened into one of Germany's most popular and durable natural stones, which has been handed down to us in magnificent structures since the early Middle Ages. Schweinstal sandstone has an inherent reddish-brown base tone that appears in a variety of color nuances. Thus, even on cold days, the stone radiates warmth and security. And on pleasant days, the sun's rays elicit a soft glitter and sparkle from it.
