Stone(s): Jura limestone

Gently curved, the Pretoria model pillow opens into a delicate slit, radiating a vibrant lightness.

Jura limestone formed when the primordial sea receded in the Bavarian Altmühl Valley around 180 million years ago and the animals and plants of the marine world slowly sank to the bottom. It enclosed the ancient creatures of our prehistoric past as fossils and remains a unique witness to our history to this day.

Jura limestone was already popular as a building material in Roman times and can also be found in numerous structures from the Middle Ages. It has a high density, yet as a soft sedimentary rock, it is excellently suited for surface design.

Care instructions: Jura limestone is easy to care for, as it weathers and develops moss very slowly. To further delay this process, we also seal our stones. Thanks to our proven sealing system, the Pretoria model pillow headstone is even less susceptible to the elements and is also water- and dirt-repellent.
