Stone(s): Jura limestone
Born in the prehistoric sea, elegant Jura limestone is a monument to our evolutionary history.
When the prehistoric sea retreated from the Bavarian Altmühltal about 180 million years ago and the animals and plants of the marine world slowly sank to the bottom, Jura limestone was formed. It enclosed the ancient creatures of our prehistoric past as fossils, making it a unique witness to our history to this day. The Naples model headstone pillow opens delicately like an angel's wing, giving the stone a lively lightness.
Jura limestone was a popular building material even in Roman times and can be found in numerous medieval structures. It has a high density, but as a soft sedimentary rock, it is excellent for surface design.
Care instructions: Jura limestone is easy to care for, as it weathers or turns green very slowly. To further delay this process, we also seal our stones. Thanks to our proven sealing system, the Naples model headstone pillow is even less susceptible to the elements and is also water- and dirt-repellent.
